Authenticity - Frequently Asked Questions
What policies do you have in place to ensure that the memorabilia I buy is genuine?
Our memorabilia is authenticated by a reputable third party, licensed by the appropriate Sport Code and comes with a genuine Certificate of Authenticity.
What is third party authentication?
When an item is authenticated by a third party, this means that an independent body or organisation such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Atag or Upper Deck Authenticated, was present during the signing session and has verified that the signatures are genuine. Generally the memorabilia or Certificate of Authenticity carries a hologram or logo from the authorising body. A tag also offers a registration service, maintaining a database of the registered owners of each piece of that limited edition.
What is licensing?
Licensing is where an item has been authorised by the relevant Sports Code or Authority i.e. NRL, AFL, ARU, ACB etc. and was produced under a strict licensing arrangement with this authority. The memorabilia and certificate of authenticity generally include the official logo.
Are all Certificates of Authenticity exactly the same?
No, a Certificate of Authenticity issued for unlicensed memorabilia does not have the same long term credibility and value as an Authenticity Certificate issued by the official Licensing Authority of that sport.
