From his first Grand Slam title as a 19 year old in 1990 to his final victory at the U.S Open 12 years later, Pete Sampras produced the greatest serve ’n’ volley attack in the modern game. He spent an incredible 286 weeks as world number one and achieved a record 14 Grand Slam titles.

 

A gentleman on and off the court, Sampras announced his retirement in a moving ceremony on the opening night of the 2003 U.S. Open.
